Knowing where your products are derived is important - Coco Sugar Naturals has compiled a list of many of the awesome ingredients used in our products to promote healthy and radiant skin. 

*Shea Butter - (Butyrospermum parkii):

The fat of the nut of the African Shea tree (Vitellariaparadoxa) is the source of Shea butter. The healing qualities of Shea butter are due to the presence of several fatty acids and plant sterols, namely oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids.

Shea butter has regenerative and collagen-boosting qualities. Shea butter is easily absorbed, gentle and safe ingredient for any type of skin, including babies and small children. Shea butter is considered a pure, all-natural vitamin A cream! As a strong skin regenerator, the butter stimulates synthesis of collagen, which firms and plumps skin, smoothes fine lines, speeds recovery from sun damage, heals small scars, skin imperfections and irritations. 
To name just a few other qualities of shea butter – it is an antioxidant, nourishing, anti-inflammatory and anti-septic. The traditional use of the butter is to reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars and stretch marks, and to ease a variety of skin irritations, such as psoriasis, eczema and sunburn.

*Mango Butter-(Mangifera indica):

Mango butter is truly an anti-age ingredient. It rejuvenates skin due to presence of antioxidants. It helps to neutralize toxins, to generate skin cells renewal and to prevent wrinkle formation. Some of the most valuable for skin acids in this butter are stearic, oleic, and linoleic acids. It contains vitamins A, high amount of vitamin E, C, D, group B vitamins, folic acid, calcium, iron and magnesium. Mango butter protects skin from sun damage, so it used in UV protection lotions and creams. The butter is very versatile with range of wonderful qualities – it has the ability to hydrate skin for long period of times, lightening of age and sun damage spots, tightening skin and healing eczema, rashes, irritations and generally, bringing back a healthy tone to skin. Mango butter is also able to work deeper into the skin, healing muscles’ aches and tensions.

*Cupuacu Butter - (Theobroma grandiflorum)

Cupuacu butter is a tropical rainforest tree that is a relative of the cacao plant. Common throughout the Amazon basin, it is abundantly found in the jungles of Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, and in northern Brazil. It contains powerful anti-oxidants and phytosterols that have an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. Cupuacu butter absorbs water extremely well and is able to absorb up to 4Xs its weight in water making it the perfect solution to dry, parched skin. Because it can absorb a high amount of water content, this means that it can lock and seal moisture to rehydrate your skin, increase suppleness, and decrease the signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles. 

*Argan Oil- (Argania spinosa)

Argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the argan tree. Native to Morocco, it is considered liquid gold and is noted for its anti-aging effects. Rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, argan oil is perhaps most commonly used as a moisturizer; it helps to replace the diminishing amount of squalene that causes our skin to lose moisture and has natural anti-inflammatory properties that can lead to soothing of skin conditions like eczema. Argan oil also softens, decreasing wrinkles and stretch marks. The antioxidant activity in argan oil helps protect the skin against free radical damage caused by the sun and may prevent burns and hyperpigmentation and can be used to help wounds and cuts heal faster. Argan oil has anti-sebum effects, which can effectively regulate amounts of sebum on the skin. This can help to treat several different types of acne and promote a smoother, calmer complexion. Argan oil has been found to have both antibacterial and fungicidal properties. Thus may help treat and prevent both bacterial and fungal skin infections.  

 

*Pomegranate Seed Oil – (Punica granatum):

The pomegranate, native to ancient Persia, has been valued for centuries as a medicinal plant. Rich in rare Omega 5 essential fatty acid, it is the only known botanical source of Conjugated Linolenic Acid (CLnA), also known as Punicic Acid, one of the most potent antioxidants known to modern science, and a natural phytoestrogen (plant-based estrogen).

Also naturally high in flavonoids, Pomegranate seed oil provides a soothing and hydrating relief to people suffering from eczema, psoriasis and sunburned skin. The anti-inflammatory properties of the oil calm irritation and redness and help improve the texture of the skin. The oil is perfect for all skin types and is used in products meant for oily skin, to control acne breakout, reduce scarring and soothe minor irritation. Pomegranate seed oil is often included in the anti-ageing creams. The regenerative properties of the oil may help erase the visible signs of ageing and helps with collagen production, firming the skin.

*Golden Jojoba Oil- (Simmondsia chinensis):

Skin recognizes jojoba’s unique molecules as its own and lets jojoba in to deeply penetrate and caress your skin working in complete harmony with your body, leaving skin moisturized, deeply cleansed and luxuriously hydrated – the way nature intended.  It soothes, and it restores elasticity to any dry skin area while conditioning and softening. Jojoba oil is absorbed quickly without leaving that greasy feel. Used over time it will shrink the size of your pores and golden jojoba oil has been found to be nearly hypoallergenic. It is used to prevent skin infections from acne, insect bites and fungal infections and effectively treats acute skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema and rosacea.

*Moringa Seed Oil– (Moringa oleifera):

Moringa Oil or Ben oil is obtained by pressing the seeds of the Moringa oleifera tree.

It is used to rejuvenate dull, tired and aging skin. It is full of antioxidants and nutrients to help fight free radical damage that can cause skin tissue damage and lead to the formation of wrinkles. It also helps improve the appearance of wrinkles and prevents sagging of facial muscles. Moringa oil contains hormones called cytokinins, which help promote cell growth and delay damage and destruction of skin tissues. Vitamin C stabilizes collagen and helps reduce fine lines and repair damaged skin cells.  It softens dry skin and maintains moisture, is good for conditioning dry, chapped lips and is used to treat rough, dry skin conditions like dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.

Moringa oil helps clear blackheads and pimples. When used regularly helps prevent the reoccurrence of blemishes and helps minimize dark spots from acne and hyperpigmentation. Moringa oil is also known to be good antiseptic and anti-inflammatory oil. It helps cures minor skin cuts, rashes or even burns. You may also use it for healing insect bites.

 

*Sweet Almond Oil – (Prunus dulcis):

Sweet almond oil with its moisturizing qualities is ideal for dry skin. Rich in vitamin E, A, B1, B2 and B6, it effectively balances the moisture in dry and irritated skin. High in Fatty acid content Sweet Almond Oil serves as a natural emollient for the skin, and can help the skin lock in moisture by forming a protective barrier. Emollients are especially effective for conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea. With acne, some people are more prone to produce a sticky oil called sebum that can clog the pores with dead skin cells and other debris. However, the fatty acids in almond oil actually help dissolve the sebum that your skin produces, creating cleaner skin and pores, and helping to get rid of acne. One of the other reasons why almond oil is beneficial is because of its ability to plump and firm the skin. Almond oil works as a natural face exfoliator to help to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of healthier skin. The moisture in the oil is then utilized by the tissues to repair damaged cells and give skin a more youthful appearance.

 

*Rosehip Seed Oil-(Rosa rubiginosa):

Rosehip Seed Oil comes from the seeds of the rosehip fruit, a wild plant that grows in Chile. It is extremely high in essential fatty acids, rich in vitamins and antioxidants, especially Vitamin C, Vitamin A (retinol), and linoleic and linolenic acids—all superstars for skin and hair health. It was used by the Ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Native Americans for its healing properties. Rosehip seed oil has been noted to correct UV damage from the sun, reduce the appearance of scars, burns and stretch marks, as well as, treat fine lines and wrinkles. It hydrates dry skin and is great for eczema and psoriasis. Lastly, it can help evenout the skin tone; awesome if you have hyper-pigmentation, age spots or other minor skin discolorations.
